Making Memories - A Family Tradition

Making Memories - A Family Tradition

Directed by Oscar-winner Wally Pfister, Good Run, shown above, celebrates memories made taking life's journey by boat, and astutely captures the quality experience the Stovold family strives to deliver daily.

Serving boaters for more than 50 years with the importance of family, friends and special memories made on and off the water at two unique locations.

You can get anywhere from here! Our boaters take advantage of the beautiful summer weather by getting out on the water to explore some of Canada's most breathtaking waterways. The clam waters of our marinas lead to the beautiful Lake Simcoe and the historic Trent-Severn Waterway, a 387-kilometre water system connecting to Georgian Bay, then Lake Huron in the West, and to Lake Ontario in the South.

Co-owner (with brother Chris) and company President today, Eric's son Jeff was a teenager in the '70s, working at the marina during his summer vacation, doing everything that needed to be done - from cleaning washrooms to emptying trash, pumping gas, servicing engines and winterizing boats.

The 1986 purchase of Lefroy Harbour Resorts brought a second Lake Simcoe marina into the fold, with both locations falling under the umbrella of Lefroy Harbour Resorts.

Expansions, improvements, and industry best practices followed - all with an eye on enhancing their boaters' experience, as Jeff's son Ryan followed in his father's footsteps, learning the ropes, and building on the strong foundation first laid by grandfather Eric. Today, third-generation Ryan steers the operation as General Manager.

Community Connections

The Stovolds' commitment to customer service, community, and making a difference extends well beyond the shores of Lake Simcoe.

Over the years, various members of the family have acquired and operated - maintaining the same exacting standards - an award-winning KOA Campground and The RV Warehouse near the intersection of Hwy 400 and exit 89.

Jeff Stovold has also served as President of the Ontario Marine Operators Association (now Boating Ontario), Canada's largest recreational boating association, and was selected by The Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce to represent them in the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Torch Relay. Jeff is shown here at the end of his run, where grandson Austin was among family awaiting him.

Instrumental in continuously raising the bar under his leadership, Ryan Stovold was presented with the 2013 Innisfil Chamber of Commerce Environmental Leadership Award; the 2015 Innisfil Business of the Year Award; the 2015 Innisfil Environmental Harvest Moon Award; the 2015 Ontario Marina Leader Award, and 5 Anchor Platinum Clean Marine Achievement Award; the 2016 Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority's Water Conservation Award; and one of Boating Ontario's most esteemed honours, the Robert Eaton Environmental Award (2016).

Further abroad, as part of the Rain Harvest Team Jeff and wife Cathy have travelled to Kenya to work at an orphanage called Mully Children's Family Homes. A cause close to the hearts of the couple, MCF rescues and cares for abandoned and abused children. Proceeds donated from the Lefroy Harbour Resorts Golf Classic assist in MCF's ongoing efforts; to date it has transformed the lives of more than 10,000 street kids.
