The Clean Marine Program is recognized as the boating industry leader for environmental best practices protecting our waterways for future generations.
Thank you to all staff and boaters whose clean marine best practices contributed to the esteemed designation of Platinum Rating for Lefroy Harbour Resorts. “5 Anchor Platinum” is the highest achievement level of the program, and your actions clearly demonstrate your commitment to the protection of our waterways and marine life!
About the Clean Marine Program
Along with more than 20 marine industry professionals from Ontario’s boater and angler associations, Boating Ontario formed the Clean Marine Partnership to develop a voluntary program of "Environmental Best Practices" for the marine industry.
Each participating marina must pass a comprehensive environmental audit to ensure compliance with program standards set out in the Clean Marine Operations Handbook. This handbook, developed through the cooperation of Boating Ontario, Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, sets out more than 200 environmental practices covering all aspects of marine operations – from fueling to waste oil, shrinkwrap and paper recycling, to money-saving initiatives such as energy conservation.
Marinas are audited by Greenleaf, a third-party firm who produces detailed reports on compliance with program standards and converts audit results to a five-point Eco-Rating system, with a low of one, and a high of five green leaf anchors. As of 2009, upgraded standards include Gold, Diamond and Platinum 5-anchor levels of achievement.
We're Proud of Our Environmental Leadership!
We recognize that it takes a collaborative effort and commitment to position Lefroy Harbour Resorts as a leader in environmental stewardship.
We are proud of our staff, boaters, and achievements: the 2013 Innisfil Chamber of Commerce Environmental Leadership Award; the 2015 Innisfil Environmental Harvest Moon Award; the 2015 Ontario Marina Leader Award, and 5 Anchor Platinum Clean Marine Achievement Award; the 2016 Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority’s Water Conservation Award; one of Boating Ontario’s most esteemed honours, the Robert Eaton Environmental Award (2016); and the 2017 South Simcoe Business Excellence Awards, Green Transition Award.
A Token of Appreciation
Lefroy and Kon Tiki boaters will find a complimentary bilge sock aboard their newly launched boats this spring - a token of appreciation for helping Lefroy Harbour Resorts reach the 5 Anchor Platinum level in the Clean Marine Environmental Program!
Placing your oil absorbing bilge sock in your bilge will help capture leaking oil and small fuel spills that otherwise could get discharged into the waterways. Bilge socks will be removed and disposed of during winterization of your vessel.
